About Marble Tile

Marble tile is metamorphosed limestone, recrystallized under heat and pressure into the veined, light-reflective stone that has defined architecture from the Parthenon to the modern spa bath. Mosaicenter carries more than 900 marble tiles and mosaics across the classic quarried series: Carrara White, Calacatta Gold, Thassos, Emperador Dark, Nero Marquina, Crema Marfil, Bianco Dolomite and Bardiglio, in field tile sizes from 2 x 2 up to 24 x 24 and sheet-mounted mosaics in every classic pattern.

Types of Marble Finishes

Polished Marble

The traditional high-gloss face that maximizes the depth of veining and reflects light through the room. Best on walls, backsplashes and lower-traffic floors where its sheen stays unscuffed.

Honed Marble

Ground to a smooth matte that hides fine wear and offers more grip underfoot, which makes honed the practical choice for bathroom floors and busy hallways.

Tumbled Marble

Softened edges and a gently weathered face for an old-world character. Tumbled mosaics are a favorite for shower floors, where the extra texture adds slip resistance.

Brushed and Natural

A softly textured brushed face or the stone's split natural surface for rustic installations. Both add grip underfoot and hide daily wear.

Marble Colors

White Marble

From the soft grey veining of Carrara to the pure snow field of Thassos, white marble tiles brighten baths and kitchens and pair with every metal finish.

Grey Marble

Bardiglio and grey-veined blends give grey marble tiles a tailored, architectural read that suits modern schemes.

Gold and Beige

Calacatta Gold and Crema Marfil bring warm gold marble and beige marble tones that glow beside brass and warm wood.

Brown and Black

Emperador Dark and Nero Marquina deliver brown and black marble with white veining for gallery-grade contrast.

Marble Mosaic Patterns

Because marble cuts cleanly into small formats, it carries the widest pattern range of any natural stone. Shop sheet-mounted marble hexagon, herringbone, chevron, basketweave, marble subway and octagon mosaics, plus borders, pencils and bullnose trim cut from the same blocks so your edges match your field.

Best Applications for Marble Tile

Bathrooms and Showers

Marble is the definitive spa-bath surface. Use honed or tumbled mosaics on shower floors for grip, larger honed formats on walls, and seal everything at installation. The stone's cool touch and natural variation give every bathroom a one-of-a-kind field.

Kitchens and Backsplashes

A marble backsplash puts real veining behind the range in a zone that sees splashes but little abrasion. Kitchen marble tiles reward quick wipe-downs and pH-neutral cleaners; keep lemon juice and vinegar off the surface.

Floors and Feature Walls

Field tile up to 24 x 24 lays a continuous, luminous floor in living areas and entries. Marble wall tile turns fireplace surrounds and powder rooms into focal points with no paint or paper matching its depth.

Entryways and Foyers

A marble entry sets the tone for the whole house. Square and offset formats in honed finishes take daily traffic while reading formal from the front door.

Installation and Care

White Thinset Only

Grey mortar can shadow through light marble. Set with white polymer-modified thinset and back-butter larger formats for full coverage.

Seal, Then Re-Seal

Apply a penetrating stone sealer before grouting and again after. Re-seal about once a year in wet or high-traffic areas; test by checking whether water still beads.

Blend Your Boxes

Marble varies block to block. Dry-lay tiles from several boxes at once to distribute veining and tone evenly across the installation.

Grout Wisely

Use non-sanded grout on polished faces and tight joints to protect the surface, and seal cement grout once it cures.

The living room is the architectural heartbeat of your home. We curate our collections to balance breathtaking luxury with unbreakable, everyday durability.

Whether you are gathering with family or entertaining guests, our large-format porcelains and rich natural stones provide an impeccable foundation. By insisting on precision-rectified edges and premium glazes, we ensure your living space feels expansive, seamless, and effortlessly sophisticated for decades.

FAQs about Marble Tiles

Does marble tile need to be sealed?

Yes. Marble is a calcite stone and should be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer at installation and re-sealed roughly once a year in wet or high-traffic areas. Between sealings, clean only with pH-neutral products; acids like vinegar and citrus etch the surface on contact.

Is marble tile good for showers and bathroom floors?

Yes, when installed correctly. Use honed or tumbled mosaic sheets on shower floors so the extra grout lines add grip, keep the substrate properly waterproofed, and seal the stone. Polished marble is best kept to walls where it stays unscuffed.

What is the difference between Carrara and Calacatta marble?

Both are Italian white marbles. Carrara has a soft grey field with fine, feathery veining and is the more available and affordable of the two. Calacatta is whiter with bolder, more dramatic veining, often with gold undertones, and is priced as a premium stone.

Can I use marble tile in a kitchen?

Yes. Marble backsplashes and walls perform beautifully. On counters and floors it needs more discipline: wipe spills quickly, especially wine and citrus, use cutting boards, and keep the sealer fresh. Many kitchens pair a marble backsplash with a denser floor material.

Why does my marble tile look different from the sample?

Marble is quarried in natural blocks, so veining and tone shift from lot to lot and even piece to piece. That variation is the material's signature. Order 10 percent extra, and dry-lay tiles from several boxes to blend the range before setting.
