About Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Luxury vinyl tile and plank is a layered resilient floor: a photographic design layer under a clear wear layer, bonded to a waterproof vinyl core. It is warmer and quieter underfoot than tile, forgiving over imperfect subfloors, and installs fast. Mosaicenter carries LVT plank lines including Prescott, Ashton, Katavia and Laurel Reserve in wood looks from pale blondes to rich browns, in planks up to 9 x 60 inches.

Luxury Vinyl Construction

Wear Layer

A clear urethane-coated layer takes the traffic. Thicker wear layers (measured in mils) mean longer warranties; each product page lists its spec.

Design Layer

High-definition print reproduces oak grain, stone veining and saw marks convincingly enough to fool the eye at standing height.

Waterproof Core

Rigid or flexible vinyl cores shrug off standing water, which is why LVT goes confidently into kitchens, baths and basements.

Quiet Layers

Many lines carry attached underlayment pads that absorb footfall noise, a difference heard in the room below.

Installation and Care

Acclimate and Gap

Let cartons acclimate in the room, and honor the perimeter expansion gap the manufacturer specifies; trim covers it.

Protect the Wear Layer

Felt pads under furniture, no rubber-backed mats, no steam mops, and a vinyl-safe pH-neutral cleaner keep the finish clear for its full rated life.

Mind the Light

Moderate direct sun with coverings where possible; like most floors, vinyl can shade under years of intense exposure.

Match the Wear Layer

12 mil suits normal households, 20 mil busy ones with kids and pets; the spec is listed on every product page.

FAQs about Vinyl Tiles

Is luxury vinyl really waterproof?

Yes. The vinyl core is unaffected by standing water, which is why LVT is recommended for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and basements. The practical limit is water reaching the subfloor around edges, so proper perimeter detailing still matters.

Can LVT be installed over my existing floor?

In most cases yes. Click-lock LVT floats over flat, sound hard surfaces including old tile and wood after minor prep. Follow the manufacturer's flatness spec and expansion-gap guidance, and avoid stacking over soft or failing floors.

What wear layer thickness do I need?

For residential use, 12 mil handles normal households and 20 mil suits busy homes with kids and pets; 22 mil and up reaches light-commercial grade. The wear layer, not the total plank thickness, is the durability spec that matters most.

Does luxury vinyl fade or dent?

Quality LVT resists fading in normal light, though years of direct sun can shade any floor; use window coverings in intense exposures. Concentrated point loads can dent vinyl, so fit furniture with wide felt or cup protectors.

How do I clean LVT flooring?

Sweep or vacuum without a beater bar, then damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner made for vinyl. Skip steam mops, wax, and oil soaps; they can cloud or damage the wear layer and void warranties.
