Natural Pebble Tiles for Organic Texture and Style

Pebble tiles are decorative tiles made of natural or synthetic pebbles that are attached to a mesh back for easy installation. To begin with, the surface must be thoroughly cleaned and smoothed. With a notched trowel, apply a thin set mortar in a uniform surface. Press the pebble tile sheets firmly onto the surface, lining them in an undisturbed flow. With a grout float, spread a minimal layer of grout over the pebbles, ensuring the voids are filled all the way through. Wipe off any excess grout with a damp sponge, allowing the pebbles to be exposed. Seal the tiles when the grout dries with a stone sealant to guard against moisture and stains, ensuring long-lasting and good-looking finish.

Sanded grout is advisable for every install using ceramics, porcelain, granite, flamed or brushed marble, terrazzo, rock pebbles and meshed pebbles with a grout joint of isle of 1/8” or so. This kind of spacing means that there is a greater possibility for error with the grout.

Because of its uneven surface and multiple grout lines, pebble tiles require more maintenance than traditional flat tiles as dirt and moisture can become trapped over time. On the other hand, with a little proper sealing and maintenance, it does not become a burden to take care of pebble tiles.
