Limestone is a sedimentary stone formed from compressed marine deposits, giving it a soft, even grain and a naturally matte face. Its palette runs from cream and buff to grey and blue, usually with less pronounced veining than marble, which makes it a quiet, consistent field stone. Limestone works indoors and out, and its honed surface keeps a warm, low-sheen look that suits both classic and contemporary rooms.

Limestone is porous and needs sealing at installation and periodic re-sealing, roughly once a year in kitchens and wet areas.
